International Society for Fibrinolysis and Thrombolysis (ISFT), 1992
The International Society for Fibrinolysis and Thrombolysis (ISFT) was constituted in 1992 with an endowment of $50,000 from LSRP (DCRF), with D. Collen as first Chairman. It is now renamed as International Society for Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis (ISFP). It was recognized as a non-profit organization with bylaws published in the “Belgisch Staatsblad” of July 26, 2001, and with registered office at Campus Gasthuisberg in Leuven.
“The objectives of the Society; which has no profit motive, are exclusively scientific and educational in nature. Specifically, the objectives include the furtherance of scientific research relating to fundamental and medical aspects of fibrinolysis, proteolysis and thrombolysis”.
ISFT-Congress Leuven, 1994
The XIIth International Congress on Fibrinolysis, under the auspices of the International Society for Fibrinolysis and Thrombolysis (ISFT), was organized by the Center for Thrombosis and Vascular Research in Leuven, September 18-22, 1994, under the presidency of D. Collen. At that time, the ISFT had over 400 members from 35 countries.
